💡라이브 아카데미 - '찾다'의 3가지 모습 - find I look for I search

현재 2020.03.09 기준 코로나19 확진자 수는 7,382명 입니다. 코로나19때문에 걱정이 많은데, 저부터 개인 위생관리에 신경을 많이쓰도록 노력해야겠어요!

이번시간에는 '라이브 아카데미 - '찾다'의 3가지 모습'에 대해 공부한 것을 리뷰하려고 해요.

 

 

 

 

우리가 '찾다, 찾는다'를 영어로 말할 때 별 생각 없이 'find'라고 얘기를 하면, 적어도 절반 이상의 경우에는 틀린 경우라고 합니다. 🙄

 

 

그 이유는 우리가 보통 '찾는다'라고 표현을 할 때에는 크게 3가지의 다른 경우들로 구분을 할 수 있어요.

근데 이 세가지의 경우가 우리말로는 찾는다라고 표현을 하지만, 영어에서는 각각 다른표현을 사용합니다.

1. find : 찾는 '순간', '발견의 순간'

=> 일시적으로 일어나는, 순간적으로 일어나는 일. 따라서 진행형으로 쓰이는 형태는 '거의' 없다.

 

Ex,

I found my keys.

I found my pen.

I found my cellphone.

 

 

 

2. look for : 찾는 '과정' 을 표현        => 익숙해질 것

 

Ex,

I'm looking for my notes.

I'm looking for a good restaurand in this area.

I'm looking for a something to do this weekend.

Are you looking for something?

What are you looking for?

 

 

 

3. search : '뒤지다'

 

Ex,

I searched everywhere.

I still can't find my keys.

Did you search your room?

Yeah, Isearched my room, I searched my pockets, Isearched my coat pockets.

I've been looking for them for two hours .... I can't find them!

 

=> search the Internet (가상의 공간이지만, 하나의 장소로 취급 'Internet') : 인터넷 검색해봤어

 

 

+ 식당을 검색하다 ❌

 

search the restaurant : 인터넷에서 식당을 검색했다는 의미가 아니라 식당을 뒤진거야

 

=> I searched the Internet/online and I found some information about the brand. ⭕

 

+ searched the inforamtion ❌ : 정보를 뒤질순 없다. 정보를 포함한 그 장소를 검색/뒤지다

 

=> I looked for some information online/on the internet.

 

 

 

 

4. search for 와 look for랑은 거의 의미가 비슷하지만, 인터넷검색에 더 잘 쓰인다

 

Ex,

I searched for some information online/the internet.

I searched the internet for some information/to find some information.
